| Dreamscape ideas from Ronald McDonald House Auckland Trust members |
Last week I conspired with friend and art tutor, the fabulous Andrea Gaskin
to crash one of her weekly art classes at Ronald McDonald House Auckland
Trust! I
rocked up with an easel, a whole bunch of art markers and a huge pad of paper-
wanting to create a crazy brainstorm of all of the RMH members’ ideas for their
Dreamscape painting. In small groups I invited the kids and teens to come and
write their ideas down...I had no idea what I was in for!
Their ideas are amazing, strange, funny, thoughtful and
inspiring. Did I mention funny? We were all laughing the entire time. Telling
kids ‘there are no rules’ and that ‘they can write whatever they want’ is music
to their ears! Check out all of their ideas in the image above. You may need parts translated. Ha!
The ideas for the Ronald McDonald House Auckland
Trust Dreamscape painting are
from:
Grant, 15 months
Harley, 6
Tawhaki, 6
Mela, 6
Rossie, 7 (and a half)
Elijah, 8
Ivy, 11
Molly, 18
Near the end of my visit I noticed one of the children had a concerned look on her face. I asked what was wrong and she asked "Have you done this before?” I laughed and explained that I hadn’t, and that the Dreamscape Project was kind of an experiment. She looked even more concerned and asked “But what if it doesn’t work?” From the mouths of babes! I told her I would MAKE it work, but I don’t know if she believed me ;p I don't know if I believe myself! Argh! Transforming their ideas in to art is going to be an amazing challenge! I start later this week...Progress pics soon!
